Profile

Peter Byrnes has tried scores of cases, primarily to juries, over a period of more than 40 years. His trial experience includes antitrust, securities, legal malpractice, white collar criminal violations, intellectual property, product liability and personal injury, as well as a variety of other cases.

The excellence of Peter’s trial work has been consistently recognized by his colleagues. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1979, a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, and an Associate of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has also been listed in Best Lawyers in America each year since its first publication. He has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics and listed in various magazines as Seattle’s leading commercial litigator.

Peter was educated at the College of William & Mary where he received a BA in Economics in 1959. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a Member of The Order of The Coif and an editor of the University of Michigan Law Review.

He has participated in numerous federal and state bar committees and activities and served a four-year term as a member of the Council of the Antitrust Section of the ABA. He was also Chairman of the Ninth Circuit Subcommittee of the Committee on the Trial of Antitrust Cases and a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference and Chairman of the Lawyer Representatives of Washington to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.

He has authored numerous publications in trial practice and antitrust and served as a frequent lecturer on CLE panels throughout the country. Peter also serves as a mediator and an arbitrator on a frequent basis and has lectured on mediation techniques.

He was a partner at Bogle & Gates from 1962 to 1984.
